Site Description: Yokokoji Temple is a Soto Zen temple located in Komabayashi, Agano City, Niigata Prefecture (formerly Kyozen Village). It is said to have been founded during the Genbun era (1736-1741) by Nyoin Dojitsu Osho, the 17th chief priest of Chorakuji Temple (the 33rd temple on the pilgrimage route), and Yokokoji Temple serves as the 16th temple on that route. Within its grounds, there is a Zazen hall where visitors can engage in authentic Zen meditation.
